Tipón Archaeological Park
Tipón is included as one of the 16 most important archaeological sites for tourists visiting this area. Aside from being another archaeological complex, this site also houses one of the largest irrigation works on the terraces, also known as “andenes,” with the incredible layout of open-air water conduits.
It contains enclosures, terraces, and an intact irrigation ditch. The upper part of the complex is crossed by the Inca Trail along with an irrigation canal. It was likely used as a laboratory for agricultural products due to the diverse microclimates found within this complex.

The Tipón complex is located near Oropesa, 4 km away in the Choquepata Community, 27 km southeast of Cusco, Peru, and next to the Cusco-Puno highway.
Located at an altitude of 3,560 meters above sea level, Tipón was a great sanctuary where water was worshipped with the care and veneration that the Incas treated this element.
