Convent of San Francisco

The construction of this architectural gem was carried out by the Franciscan order and completed in 1774, after a century of work. The complex is a monumental and architectural ensemble unique in the world, consisting of the churches of San Francisco, La Soledad, and del Milagro, with their respective cloisters, courtyards, catacombs, and outbuildings.

This monastery also houses a valuable artistic legacy accumulated over more than four centuries. The library houses an impressive collection of 20,000 books in various languages, including Bibles, theological treatises, and choral books made of lambskin or parchment. It also houses a complete world atlas and the first dictionary published by the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language.
