Main Square of Ayacucho

Ayacucho (founded as San Juan de la Frontera de Huamanga and also known as Huamanga) is a city in Peru, capital of the Huamanga Province and the Ayacucho Department. It is located on the eastern slope of the Andes mountain range at an altitude of 2,746 meters above sea level and is characterized by its pleasant, temperate, and dry climate, with year-round sunshine. It is one of the most notable architectural and artistic complexes in Peru. It is known as the “City of Churches” for its numerous colonial temples, and as the “Stately City” for its architecture, traditions, and art.

Where is?

Ayacucho’s Plaza de Armas is in the city center. It borders Jirón Cuzco to the north, Jirón Lima to the south, Jirón 28 de Julio to the west, and Jirón 2 de Mayo to the east. As the city’s nerve center, all public transportation routes pass through here. There are also several tour companies around the plaza that offer various tours to nearby Ayacucho attractions. Many hotels are very close to the plaza.
