Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum

The Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum has established itself as a cultural gem of Lambayeque and Peru.
The Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum is a Peruvian archaeological museum inaugurated in 2002. It is located in the city of Lambayeque, in the Department of Lambayeque. Its architectural design was inspired by the ancient truncated pyramids of the pre-Inca Moche culture (1st to 7th century AD). The museum houses more than two thousand gold pieces.

The museum’s purpose is to display the tomb of the Lord of Sipán, which was discovered in 1987 by Peruvian archaeologists Walter Alva Alva and Luis Chero Zurita. Its artifacts include jewelry, ceramics, and funerary goods.
The discovery of the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipán marked an important milestone in the continent’s archaeology, revealing for the first time the magnificence and majesty of the only ruler of ancient Peru ever discovered.
