Huanchaco Spa
According to legend, eight centuries ago Prince Takaynamo landed in Huanchaco with an entourage and founded the first Chimú dynasty.
Totora horses, traditional rafts used by fishermen on the northern coast since pre-Columbian times, still sail in its waters. Huanchaco is a favorite beach for surfers.
At the top of the resort stands the beautiful colonial church Virgen del Socorro, the second oldest in Peru.
The resort is a tourist destination and hosts international surfing competitions. It is known for the Longboard Pro Peru, a world longboard championship held each summer.
Here, the daily use of the totora horse, the oldest maritime vessel in the Americas, is preserved, and local fishermen maintain the customs and practices employed since the beginning of human history in this part of the South Pacific.

The natural site is located 13 km from the city of Trujillo, a 30-minute drive. The Huanchaco spa is located in the district of the same name, which covers an area of 333.9 km². It is the most important and beautiful district in the city of Trujillo, capital of the La Libertad Region.
