Huacachina Lagoon

Huacachina means “weeping woman” in Quechua. Legend has it that this lake was born from the tears of a beautiful green-eyed woman, who was mourning the death of her beloved.

But the lagoon teems with life: from its palm trees and huarangos, to the birds that rest in its waters, its fish, and the discreet creatures of the surrounding dunes. A rich biodiversity is now protected, with the declaration of Huacachina and the surrounding subtropical desert as a Regional Conservation Area.

             Where is?

Also known as the ‘Oasis of America,’ it’s located 20 minutes from the city of Ica. It has an average area of 100 meters long by 80 meters wide and a depth of 10 meters in its central part. Its waters are an emerald green, ideal for pedal boats.
