Great Pajatén

The Great Pajatén is an archaeological complex of the Chachapoyas culture located in the cloud forests of the high jungle of Peru, at 2,850 meters above sea level. Administratively, it is located in the district of Huicungo, located in the province of Mariscal Cáceres in the department of San Martín.
The Great Pajatén was discovered by Juanjuino “Eduardo Peña Meza”, when he was looking for an exit route between the jungle and the coast. He arrived at the Great Pajatén complex, from that discovery he communicated to different authorities and thus it became known in Juanjui, Trujillo, Lima, the existence of this citadel called Pajaten, in honor of this discovery, on December 5, 1932, Eduardo Peña Meza was incorporated as a corresponding member of the Geographical Society of Lima.
