Gocta Waterfall

At over 700 meters high, it’s one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Its majesty and natural beauty, uncommonly found just like that, captivate all visitors. In the Amazon region, you can find a number of archaeological and natural attractions, such as the Karajía Sarcophagi, the City of Chachapoyas, and the Kuélap Monumental Archaeological Zone. But its greatest natural gem is the Gocta Waterfall, located in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.

This waterfall is visited by tourists seeking to connect with a completely natural environment. Public or private transportation is not allowed here, so you can experience the harmony of the flora and fauna in every space you pass through. And for the same reason that there are no roads or paved paths, accessing Gocta Waterfall is somewhat challenging. However, the journey is completely worth it, because witnessing the constant cascading waterfall is indescribable, filling your soul and transporting your mind to a state of calm never before experienced.

Where is?

To better understand the geographical location, it’s worth noting that the Gocta Waterfall is located between the hamlets of San Pablo, Cocachimba, and La Coca, which belong to the Valera district in the province of Bongará (Amazonas region). To reach it, there are several options that suit the adventurous spirit of potential visitors: you’ll have to take different sections (or routes) that combine long hikes and horseback rides to reach this natural wonder. However, you can also reach your destination first by bus (from the city of Chachapoyas to Cocachimba or San Pablo) or by renting a car.
