Bridge of Sighs

The bridge was originally 44 meters long. After its destruction due to a fire caused by the Chilean invasion on January 14, 1881, it was rebuilt to only 33 meters long, maintaining the 3 meters wide and 8.5 meters high of its original structure. It connects Ayacucho Street with the access to the Barranco Hermitage, while joining the ends of the ravine and overcoming a height of 8.5 meters, it passes underneath the Bajada de Baños de Barranco (the path that leads to the district’s beaches).
The Bridge of Sighs is a wooden pedestrian overpass located in the Barranco district of Lima, the capital of Peru. It is one of the most touristic spots in the historic district and a meeting point for couples in love.
